From April 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022, the following Amazon Benefits are available.
Amazon Medical Insurance Benefits
These plans cover prescription drugs, hospital and emergency room care, mental health care, X-rays, and lab tests.
None of Amazon’s Medical Plans won’t cover you if you already have a health problem.
There are different plans from which employees can choose. All plans cover the full cost of preventive care.

Amazon Infertility Benefits
Amazon has teamed up with Progyny, the top provider of infertility benefits, to give their employees full coverage.
When employees sign up for one of Amazon’s medical plans, they can see some of the best infertility doctors in the country and get help from patient care advocates.
If Amazon employees want to learn more about this benefit, they can talk to their recruiter.
Amazon 401(k) Plan Benefits
- For every $1 that an employee puts into their account, Amazon will put $0.50 into it as a matching contribution. A match of up to 2% can be given to employees.
- After three years of service, employees are eligible to get contributions that match their own.One year of vesting service is equal to working 1,000 hours in a calendar year.
- Employees can put in anywhere from 1% to 90% of their qualifying pay, either before or after taxes, or both, up to the limits set by the IRS each year.
- The most you can get from the IRS in 2021 is $19,500.
On their first day of work, all Amazon employees who are 18 years old or older can join the plan.
Restricted Stock Units for Employees
- Most Amazon employees can become shareholders by being given Restricted Stock Units and waiting for them to become fully paid.
- Depending on their job level and if they work 30 hours or more each week, employees may be eligible for the following benefits:
- Get an RSU grant that gives you rights to the stock over time, based on the plan documents.
There may be more RSU awards available. - Amazon is always looking for new ways to give its employees ownership opportunities in different ways.
FSAs (Flexible Spending Accounts) Benefits
FSAs are a simple way to pay for some eligible health care or child care costs with money you get before taxes.
By putting money into an FSA, employees reduce the amount of their income that is taxed, which lowers their federal income taxes and Social Security taxes.
- Employees who are in the Health Savings Plan with a Health Savings Account can’t join the Health Care FSA (HSA).
- Health Care FSAs can be used to pay for copays, deductibles, and other eligible services and supplies that aren’t covered by Medical, Dental, or Vision insurance.
- The Health Care FSA requires a minimum contribution of $120 and a maximum contribution of $2,750 each plan year. It can be used to pay for eligible health care costs.
- The Dependent Care FSA can only be used to pay for care for a child or an elderly person while the worker is at work.
- Employees can put in as little as $120 and as much as $5,000 per plan year into their Dependent Care FSA.
Insurance for People With Disabilities
Those who work at least 30 hours a week are eligible. Amazon will give them free Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Insurance.
If an employee gets Medically Disabled, both plans will give them up to 60% of their income, up to a certain limit.
- Short-Term Disability payments are paid for up to 26 weeks after a seven-day waiting period.
- For STD benefits related to pregnancy, there is still a seven-day waiting period, but the pay goes back to the first day of disability.
- Short-term pregnant disability coverage is available for birth parents. This pays out 100% of basic earnings for up to 4 weeks before the baby is born and 10 weeks after the baby is born.
- Long-term disability (LTD) payments have a 180-day waiting period. After that, benefits are given for a longer time, depending on how bad the condition is and other factors.
- The LTD plan has an exclusion for conditions that were already there.
Insurance for Life & Accidental Death and Dismemberment
- At the moment, Amazon gives its employees free Basic Life and AD&D Insurance for two times their annual base income.
- Employees can get extra life insurance for themselves, and if they die, the money will go to the people they choose.
- Up to $2,000,000 in coverage can be bought in amounts that are between 1 and 10 times the base annual salary of the employee.
- Employees can buy life insurance for their spouse or domestic partner for as little as $25,000 or 12 to 5 times their base annual wage, up to $250,000, but not more than 100% of their total life insurance coverage.
- Employees can get life insurance for their children up to a certain amount, which can be up to $20,000.
- An accelerated death benefit is sometimes possible when a person has a terminal illness.
- The employee or their qualified dependents can buy additional AD&D insurance that covers 1x to 10x their basic annual earnings up to $2,000,000.
Personal Accident and Critical Illness Insurance
Critical Illness Insurance and Personal Accident Insurance from MetLife have lower rates.
- Critical Illness Insurance can help fill in gaps in an employee’s health or disability plan if they are diagnosed with a serious illness like a heart attack, cancer, or stroke.
- It does this by giving them a lump-sum payment.
- It helps pay for things like deductibles and other costs.
- Personal accident insurance can help pay for the costs of accidents by giving a certain amount of cash for things like broken bones, burns, and visits to the emergency room.
Homeowners, Renters, Auto, and Pet Insurance
- Take advantage of special deals and compare insurance companies for homeowners, renters, cars, and pets all in one place.
- Employees who sign up for ASPCA Pet Health Insurance can save up to 20% on their premiums.
- You can sign up for or change these benefits at any time of the year, not just during Open Enrollment.
Discount on Legal Services
MetLife members can get discounted legal advice and services for a wide range of legal issues, such as wills and estate planning, real estate issues, family law, and more.
Daily Living Assistance for People with Mental Illness
- Any Amazon worker or member of their family can get free counseling and referrals at any time.
- Employees can get up to three free in-person or online therapy sessions a year for each problem.
- There are legal and financial problems, as well as personal needs for comfort and care.
Referral Services for Children, Elders, and Pets
- Both Sittercity and Years Ahead are free to join and can help you find qualified care for children or the elderly.

Leave of Absence Amazon Benefits

Parental & Pregnancy Leave
Amazon Employees with a blue badge who work full-time (40 hours per week) or part-time (30-39 hours per week) are eligible for the following leaves.
During this time, Amazon’s programs for health care, life insurance, 401(k)s, and vacations for employees will still be in place.
Pregnancy Leave
Amazon employees who are pregnant get the following perks:
- Pre-Partum: Up to 4 weeks of paid leave, if a doctor says it’s okay.
- Post-Partum: A worker can take 10 weeks of paid time off after giving birth.
- Short-term disability benefits while on leave.
The RSUs of employees will continue to vest on the same schedule as before.
Payments for the sign-up bonus are still being made on the same schedule as before.
Parental Leave
- When an employee gives birth to or adopts a child, they are entitled to six weeks of paid time off.
- Parental Leave can be taken all at once or in two parts, but it must be used within 12 months of the birth or adoption of the child.
- For parental leave, you don’t need to ask your boss for permission. Employees should talk to their bosses about their plans for their time off, but it is up to them how and when they use their time off.
- RSU vesting will stop after a total of 14 days of leave. When the employee returns to work, the vesting will start again, but on a different schedule.
- It could take up to four weeks for the new vesting schedule to show up in the employees’ Morgan Stanley accounts after the schedule was changed.
Amazon Adoption Assistance Program
Amazon will pay up to $5,000 for eligible adoption costs for a single child and up to $10,000 for eligible adoption costs for a sibling group.
Most of the time, the child must be under 18 years old.
Only one single adoption or group adoption will be paid for each year.
